Summer Bishil was born in New York City. She is best-known for her part as Margo Hanson on Syfy's fantasy drama The Magicians. For the Alan Ball movie Towelhead, she portrayed 13-year-old Lebanese American girl Jasira who experiences a whirlwind of emotions as a result of the U.S. invasion in Iraq in the Gulf War. She was subsequently named one of the 10 actors in Variety's list of actors to watch in 2007. She portrayed another character of great power Taslima Jahangir in the 2009 thriller Crossing Over for which she received nominations for the Independent Spirit Award in the Best Female Lead category.
